I appreciate the your posts. Very helpful! I have an '01 QC V6 Auto 3.55. Put on an Intake, Cap&Rotor, plugs & wires, and a cat back. LOST MY BOTTOM END! The flowmaster cat-back (dual out) was installed by dealer after market at time of purchase. After reading this site and doing some checking, I figured out they put a V8 system on. They admitted it, and replaced just the muffler with a Flowmaster 525552. Better, but still lacking low-end. I called Flowmaster, they said single 2.5 in and dual 2.25 out is still too much w/o other mods. Before going to 2.25 in and dual 2out pipes and all, he suggested either reduce tube between cat an muffler to 2.25 or get a larger TB on, or both. I have a new TB planned and JBA headers in the garage ready to go. Knowing where I'm going, is my current catback all wrong? Your thoughts?

A set of 2.0 pipes will help what happend is
you lost to much back presure and the resault was
the lose of low end.

I have a few trucks running 2.25 dual tails but
1 has a 46 fastman and the other a 48mm F&B both
have cold air intakes and the 1.7's

I don't know why these people sell and recomend
these systems for the V6 even a 3.0 single is
to big.

To me its a wast of hard earned money the best
dyno runs we get on the V6's are running a single
2.5 tail with a 2.5 in out low restriction muff
like the dynomax 11748 or series 50 flowmaster.

don't drop below 2.5 in just get some 2.0 tails
made at a pipe shop and you should be good.

I run no cat and a 2.5 single system on my stroked
and ported motor with no low end loss and if
its big enough for this motor its sure enough for
a stocker.

I would like to see some of there test's they
advertise saying these big systems add power
they do not and when you ask for a dyno sheet
they give you the run around and never come up
with one. Its Bull

Thx Larry. I'll work on that. Are the headers worth the trouble? I'm not a racer, just would like to live with a little more power. Do you have a store where I can contact you?

Kurt,

No store we are just a shop that does B Body Mopar
restorations and the hi perf dodge truck stuff.

If you have the intake side done, V8 or
aftermarket TB cold air setup and the 1.7's
yes the headers will help.

On a stock truck you will lose a little low end
just adding the headers but you get a better sound
with the headers.

You need to get more in before you let more out
on these motors or you lose low end.

Like Larry said, you can feel the difference with mods. Butttttttttttt if you find broke studs like I did and have to drill them out and be over 50, It can be not worth it. Good luck.

Deep Purple, What do you mean? You pulled your valve cover and found broken rocker studs? before or after the 1.7s? How does that happen? coil bind or mis-adjusted lash? what do you mean by "be over 50?"

No, I mean the exhaust studs. I had one broken under the master cylinder and one on the passenger side. Had to buy a 90 degree chuck for may drill and try to center it as best I could to drill the bolt out. Then retap the holes. They had been broke for a long time. I didn't know anyone here (where I live)that could fix it better. Over 50 means I'm going to be 56 my next birthday. That kind of work is hard on a old man with myositis. But I like roddin & moddin.

Larry,
I jave a Reg Cab 99 Dakota Sport, i was wndering what woulld look best on it for rims and what would be the best way to get it to sound better. Also i am looking at converting to power locks and i want an alarm with it, what would be the best way to go. Also since you do the high end stuff what would be the best way to go for subs and an amp, there is not a lot of room and i would like some sound moving, i have a sony CD deck in there now.

I am with you, "roddin & moddin" is where I am at to. My kid doesn't want his buddies to know that my V6 is faster than his! :) Us old guys have got to keep ahead of them kids somehow!

Are you sure about the Dynomax part number for a 2003 3.9 V-6? I want to install their SuperTurbo muffler and can't seem to come up with the correct 'stock replacement' part number.
Can you help?
Thanks....

Dynomax 17748

Its mot listed as an exact replacement and you may
need to shorten your stock pipes to fit, its
the long super turbo also listed as the street
hemi muffler replacement.

They give you a good flow, better than stock and
just enough backpresure so you don't lose any low
end power, just a little louder than stock

They run nice if you get a short one they hum to
much

newell,

Rims, there are so many to chose from just get
what you like the looks of, I am going to get
a set of US Wheel rims from summit racing they are
black with a red stripe and a set of low profile
tires for my truck for the summer and run the
factory rims with the cooper ST's in the winter.

Mufflers, dynomax 11748 or flowmaster 50 which
is just a little louder than the dynomax.

Power windows and locks check out

http://www.a1electric.com/catalog.htm

They make all kinds of kits
