Hey I have a 93' dodge dakota 3.9L V6 ext. cab and i was looking into getting my truck repainted because the clear coat is starting to peel off. I was wondering what something like this would cost? By the way my truck is blue with a silver stretch around the middle of the side. This guy who works at the local body shop here had his 92' dakota repainted cuz his was doin the same thing and i guess he said that they had to paint OVER the dodge letters in the back of his!! Would this have to be done?? And he said he spent about $1200 in his. Some input on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

if your friends looks good for 1200 then go for it... a two tone truck will cost a lil more to paint most of the time.

Thanx for the response. Do u think they would have to paint over the DODGE letters in the back anyone who is a painter or experienced with it??

For 1200 I'm not sure if thats expected... You would have to ask them if they would. You can either put stickers on it after or have them do it.... or if you wanted it to look REALLY good you could REQUEST that they paint the letters on.
Remember, alot of body shops are very lazy and will only make an extra effert if you request it.

I repainted my tailgate last month. Over the past years it got a little chipped up and I had some paint left over from painting my new hood. The D O D G E is just a bunch of stickers. They came off wtih the chemical stripper I used. Like a hot knife through butter.

Thanks all you guys who replied. Hey Mark could i have them just take the letters off the back so they can paint it and then later maybe get different stickers and put them on?? Would my local dodge dealer carry them?? Thanx

Yes your local dealership should be able to get you the stickers. I dont know what the list price is on them but the side stripes they put on the '93's list for about $150.. They probably shouldnt be more than $40 which is cheaper than hand painting them back on. Its also easier than trying to paint around them.. you dont want to do this because it will not give an nice even paintjob.
