Okay I have a 91 Dakota with a 3.9 in it... Ummm I took it all apart and put it on a new frame.
It has the stock holly TB on it....
New cap, rotor, wires, that thing that sits in the bottom of the distrib., mass air flow thing, o/2, plugs, fuel filter, and a few other small ignition parts.

For some reason it won't rev over about 2500 RPMs. After it gets to about 2500 and I give it more gas at an idel it will almost cut out and then sometimes backfire. On the road it will just cut out and die. It worked fine before I had the truck all apart putting it on a new frame.

I have not checked the fuel pressure yet so I don't know how the pump is doing.

What do yall think, why won't it won't rev?

I would guess something in the computer or the ignition system like the coil. It goes to 2500, but no more, so I would think the fuel pressure is fine and the compression is good. The higher teh rpms, the more spark and air you need.

What should my fuel pressure be when I just hook up the guage and turn the key to the run position w/o cranking it..?

And if the coil is hooked up backwards will it do this?

Update, well I think I have a fuel pump prob. I tested the pressure and it should be around 14 or 15 on a 91. I have only around 8 so I think this is the prob. I took the Pressure regulator off and inspected the hose from what I could see of it, it looked like an okay hose. So I guess its the pump. There is a huge round plastic thing that is on top of my tank. How do I get this off? I figured out how to get the lil rounds one out that are ontop of the big round one, hehe just twist and pull, lol.

I got my 92 running faster, but I cant get it running smoother.

I try for the best efficiency, since I relate that with the best in shape, most productive engines.
