i've got a 2002 rc with 12000 miles on it. everytime i go down my lane i get nothing but crunching and knocking and creaking from my front end and it is only when i have my breaks on. I go up the same lane and there is no noise at all, only when the breaks are on. What is this? Dealer says its fine and threw some grease who knows where! i'm thinking maybe i need some caliper grease or something. oh yeah, they also told me to fix the rear end from hopping out on me that i should put sand bags in the back. Chrysler came up with that one for a fix. Yeah it may fix the hopping but the truck is brand new, if i wanted sandbags in the back i would have asked for them from factory!!! They should put other shocks on for me, i'm not paying! One more thing, is there a way i can test my converter other than disconnecting it? I've experienced major power loss since it was new, like something is holding it back.

You can see if the convertor is plugged by checking it with a back pressure gauge or even a vacuum gauge. Check the vacuum at idle then bring the engine up to around 2000rpm. The vacuum should be higher than it was at idle (ie: 22inhg at 2000rpm - 21inhg at idle). If the vacuum goes up its good if the vacuum drops there could be a restriction *somewhere* in the exhaust system.

I don't think the dealer will give you better shocks or fix noises under warrenty if they only occur on that one road. If the road is rough and bumpy they consider that "unusual driving conditions." The back ends of all small trucks bounce around because they are so light.
