Alright heres the deal, i have an 89 dakota w/ the 3.9L premagnum engine in it. im gettin a good deal on a magnum engine out of a dakota, i believe a 92 or 93 dakota. Its a 3.9L v6 but its the magnum engine. im getting it dirt cheap, around 50 bucks, just had engine rebuilt but needs to get rid of it bcuz hes putting a 360 in his. im going to check the engine over and make sure its runnable but wut do i have to do if anything to make this work in my dakota? do i have to change the intake and throttle body, distributor or things like that?? any help would be great. i cant pass it up for 50 bucks tho. any help would be great.

Intake and manifold will NOT fit Magnum. You need the harness, computer and fuel tank module. Then you need to make it work.No mixing of magnum and pre-magnum.Use 93-95 with returnless fuel system.92 3.9L would need to be updated to 93 up returnless style.(fuel rail and injectors)

you CAN actually mix and match these motors. the only problem is that you have to do the whole top end one way or another. you can't do a premag tb, then a mag intake, and one pre mag head and a mag head. if you use your old block and do the mag top, you need to get the premag to mag conversion push rods. they're only like 16 bucks. i don't have the part # handy, but if you call mopar peformance up they'll know what i'm talking about. if they don't hang up, call back, and hopefully this time you'll talk to someone who knows what hes doing. ;) but if the guy you're getting this motor from is going to be putting a 360 in, he doesn't need the engine's wiring harness or the pcm. these you really need. this whole premag to mag conversion is a serious pain. don't do this unless you honestly know what you're doing. also you need the torque convertor and the crank sensor plate. you need to either get a mag tranny, or you need to find someone with one (like the guy you're getting the motor from) and measure out where the cut out is for the crank position sensor. your new mag won't run unless you do this so you can use the crank position sensor. this sensor bolts to the mag block and sticks through the bell housing where you made the cut out, or just used a mag tranny. to make things even thougher, your gauges won't work, since they are made to work with your premag wiring and pcm. the easiest way, but not cheapest is to buy a complete set of autometer gauges or whatever you favorite brand of aftemarket guages are. when you get the guages they come with the sensors and wiring you need to make things easier for you. the only hard part with this is figuring out how you are going to mount them back in your dash. if you are really wanting to persue such a task like this, feel free to email me and i'll help you out as much as i possibly can. been there, done that.
Later,
Buck

If you can get a rebuilt running motor for 50 bucks, give him 60. He put a lot more than that into it.
