I was thinking of adding an intake and exhaust to my truck, I just bought a club cab SXT 4x4. Do these two mods really make a noticeable difference or would I be wasting cash. From what I have read on here, I will be going with K&N or Intense Performance intake and a Dynomax 17748 muffler. I just don't want to spend the cash if not needed. Also, it seems everyone is torn between weather replacing the stock muffler robs low-end or actually gives you better performance?

Any info would be appreciated.

yes those two things are the first and most important ways too add performance, but don't get sucked in to buying a 3" system you will lose low end torque just add a high flow muffler with a high flow cat or none at all but you will need a cat by-pass box .

where are you from?

Steve,

Go to your nearest Ford dealer and buy a Lightning. That's probably the easiest way to get a real fast truck!

03Dak3.9,

As far as intakes and exhaust systems.....what you have mentioned sounds about right. The truck may not be any faster but it sure will seem like it because it'll sound much better. You might even gain a mile per gallon.............

Steve,

You might want to check out muscletruck's v6 performance kits. Theyre nice kits with everything that works.

phoenixed,

I am from Pittsburgh, PA

I was thinking of just replacing the cat with a carsound high flow and adding the dynomax muffler, and maybe also a nice tip.

For the intake, I think I am gonna go with the K&N one that KRC performance is selling.

OH YEH.. Those are really the best two mods to start with. They get more air in and out faster which equals more horse power and faster pickup. I would recomend the Intense Performance intake ( www.intenseperformance.com ) and flowmaster 50 series.. Sounds awsome.

STEVE SAMOSKA- Check out my site for a few starter mods, the best is going to be intake, Throttle Body, and Exhuast..
