Subject: Check gauges problem
IP: Logged

Message:
Hi, I have a 99 Dodge Dakota 3.9L Auto, and earlier around September or so, I noticed that at times, my oil pressure gauge would drop to 0 and mt Check Gauges light would come on. I took it to a Chrysler dealer and they said it was a sensor and that they cleaned out a tube and it should work. The other night, the whole thing repeated. Has anyone had this problem, or have any thoughts on what it could be? Please respond with an e-mail. Ard184@aol.com Thanks greatly.

My oil pressure sending unit went out two weeks after I bought my truck. The dealer replaced it in 15 minutes without a question.

Had the same problem with my 97, at first it scared me, then i got the mechanical gage out and found that there was no problem, evidently the sending unit sticks in the grounded position due to the very small opening, it gums up and sticks. i worked in a independent parts store a few years back and we sold tons of them, also quite a few cloyes timing sets for 3.9's! now i know whats thats all about, no complaints though!
