I have an 02 dakota sport and love it but there is something wrong with the front end I feel. It has been on the front end rack 2 times now and i only have 10,000 miles on it. Never hit anything either, it just seems to keep going out! Now i've noticed when i'm on the highway and or any road for that matter and doing normal speeds and i hit a bump, the front end feels like it comes off the ground and i feel like i'm gonna lose control, like the whole truck shifts over to one side. It is even worse if i'm on the highway doing like 70-75 mph and i'm going down a highway with a slight curve and i hit a bump, Man it is scary. I have also noticed a crunching in the right front end, alot have said it is my ball joints and that they were not packed from factory with grease. The dealer is telling me there is nothing wrong, but why do i feel like i'm gonna roll the thing when i hit a bump? Is it the goodyear tires that are on there or what? It is really bad when i go over raised up asphalt, you know like the kind when they do half assed patch up jobs on the road. Is this really coming from the front end or is it the rear and if so would sway bars help at all. Is this body roll? Is this a normal "dodge thing". If anyone can help me out on this i would greatly appreciate it. thanks.

some general front end crapiness can be expected in our trucks, but that is --not-- general front end crapiness. If you honestly feel unsafe driving the vehicle, take it to the dealer and say so. If they tell you nothing is wrong, take it out on the I-state and show them exactly the conditions you describe. It is in a dealers best interest to repair all vehicles that are covered under warranty, as they get reimbursed straight from the krauts rather than having the wait on you to pay.

The moral of the story is- If you honestly feel unsafe driving the vehicle, take it to the dealer and say so.

My Durango (99) had some problems kind of like you describe. I think. When I would hit a dip in the road, it felt like the front end was swimming. When the front went down, it would kinda dive towards the drivers side, and went it came back up, it would go towards the passengers side. BUT, a front end alignment fixed that up. Now it just nose dives straight up and down like normal. :) The other issue......sounds like your rearend is skipping out on you as you go over bumps. This, unfortunately, standard operating procedure for most of the Dodge truck line up. You need to learn how to drive with this new automotive feature. Most people claim new shocks remedy this situation. The factory shocks are supposedly junk. I waited until almost 70K miles on my Durango before installing new shocks. Havent had the chance to test the skipping rearend to see if it indeed helped or not. Large dips are soaked up much better, but the little bumps, expansion joints, pot hole repairs, etc, dont seem to be any better. BTW, my 92 Dak has never needed an alignment and doesnt exhibit the skippy rearend. But it is a RC shortbed. May be a wheel base thing. So afte rall this rambling, my only advice would be to have it aligned again at a shop with the latest technology, make sure everything is greased up that is supposed to be and last, throw some good aftermarket shocks on it (Bilstein, Monroe, KYB). Oh yeah, take the salesman for a ride and scare him alittle.
