We have a Dakota 2001 club cab v6 with about 30000 miles on it and it is starting to do something funny when you are driving at highway speed the truck will feel like the engine is missing but when you look at the tachometer its rock steady but the odometer is jumping (like from 70 to 50 then back) also lately the cruise control has started to turn off too, not just let go but the curse light goes off to. The problem is intermittent and happens on hills as well as flat runs

You need to get the unit in the tran's replaced.
It is where the old style speedo cable would have
gone but now it is a sensor with 2 or 3 wires on
it no cables any more.
Check under the truck it may just be lose.
