I like the air cleaner..looks like my 14x3 inch chrome one with a recessed base...go with the 1/2 inch height raise..the 3/4 inch raise might be too much..but i doubt it...the opening where it attaches to motor is 5 1/8 inch diameter..the same as the throttle body..so puttin it on will be no prob...it will fit like a glove with the spacer..but get a better air filter like a K&N to go with it...around $25-$30 for housing..maybe $5 for the spacer and around $40-$50 for the K&N filter..you gonna love the way it feels when u hit WOT!!IT GULPS AIR>>SOUNDS MAD SWEET!!..you will need to get a different stud if i remember right though...mine all came in a kit...but that was 10 yrs ago..lol...hope this helps..matter of fact i think i'm due for a new 1 too..thx

I have the edelbrock 14 inch. It's good, but the only thing that sucks about these open filters is the fact that it takes in the hot air from the engine. get a hood scoop while your at it (I need to do that soon). My '93 has got a few more HP though from the 14in =D

Good stuff....costed me $55 in all (that included the edelbrock filter w/ chrome top and bottom, breather, and 1in spacer).

i'm asking these questions so when i go down to the shop i know what to ask for cuz the last time i went they had no idea what i was talking about.

also, i have a parts catalog in front of me right now and the description of one air breaters says: 14" dia. with 2" element, 5-1/8" base. is this what i'm lookin for?

lots of the air cleaners i'm finding say they fit 'carbs with 5-18" dia. necks' i know mine is fuel injected so it has a throttlebody not a carb but is it still the same set-up, will they work on my truck?

thanks

it will work perfect..we have the same dimensions as a 4 barrel carb..get the spacer with the 5 1/8 opening to match the base..i would prob skip on the hood scoop UNLESS it extended all the way to the front..if u r in traffic nothing worse than sucking heat from outside and from the heat of the hood..and then in the winter having to worry about sucking in snow or rain..now a cowl induction hood is a different story..but i don't have the funds for that yet..the spacer is like i said ..a few bucks..under $10 definite..summit racing sells their own version for around $5..try getting the assembly with a dropped base so u can get a taller air filter...i use a fram 326 air filter and it fits fine with room to spare on top...i'm looking at building a shield to block the back of the radiator shroud so all the heat gets directed to the ground using an electric fan that puts out around 3000cfm..
ps..ask if the assembly comes with a taller stud or will it fit the stock 1..
