Subject: Add-a-Leaf Kits

Message:
I made a post about this not too long ago, but I had some other questions in that topic too and we kind of got to talking about some of the other questions instead so I'm gonna ask this in it's own thread.

I just got a four-wheeler that weighs not quite 500 lbs. I haul it in the back of the truck to the places where I ride. I don't care too much for the way the truck handles suspension wise when I have that added weight in the back. I read that the add-a-leaf kit is supposed to help out in that dept. and also would give a 1-2" lift. I was wondering what you all's opinions were of these and also how easy are they to install since I'm not mechanically inclined at all? If you don't think this would do what I'm wanting feel free to give me some other ideas too.

Thanks,
Josh

I drive a ranger at work and we put a add-a-leaf kit on it. you will get just the opposite as you have now with the kit, it will ride rough and springy without a load and good with a load. I would try to gat a air shock or bag kit that way you can add air when you have a load and let it out when you don't

He's right an add-a-leaf works great for hauling heavy loads but the back end will ride really stiff. I recommend on of those active suspension systems you see on advertised on tv all of the time, i think jcwhitney carries them, they work great since they only do there thing when you have weight in the back, They are also easier to install then disassembling the spring pack to add leafs.

there was a kit out there that wasn't a add-a-leaf but looked more like a garage door spring with a rod that attached to one end of the spring and the other to the axle shackles..suppose to give 1000lbs increase when compress at a certain angle but kept ride stock when unloaded..anyone remember the name?
