ok. i checked the PCV. it sucks pretty good. (insert your own joke here). as far as the iac goes, i took off the air cleaner and there were two holes. the flap was horizontal. when we gave it gas, it barely moved. we sprayed some carb cleaner on it, but nothing happened. as far as the iac sensor, i have no idea what the hell that is. but now when i stall, it won't start right up like it did before. i keep talking to guys at garages and they have no idea what the problem is. i think it is time to take it off road, burn the s.o.b., collect the insurance $ and buy a tacoma. just kidding.
by the way, i appreciate the respect you guys are giving me by "keeping this post clean", but i don't care if it is or isn't. just as long as you guys give me advice, that's all i care about. and for those of you that think i am not a lady, you will not receive the "thank-you" bj i was going to give to the one who solved my problem. lol.

The following may help you with your IAC (I got it from http://www.speedtweaks.ca under tricks and tips):

This is recommended at every Tune-Up to prevent excess carbon buildup on the IAC plunger. In some cases, you'll notice a slightly erratic idle quality. This is the first step in taking care of that problem. IAC = Intake Air Control (Solenoid).

Remove the Air Hat from the Throttle Body

Disconnect the sensor harness from the IAC Solenoid (Rear of Throttle Body)

Remove the two Torx-25 Screws

Remove the IAC Solenoid (Be careful not to lose the rubber O-Ring)

Spray some Carb/TB Cleaner in the IAC port on the Throttle Body and let it sit

Spray some Carb/TB Cleaner on the tip of the IAC Solenoid and wipe clean (Do NOT forcefully twist or push the plunger - You will damage the Solenoid. Wipe very gently.)

Spray a little bit more Carb/TB Cleaner in the IAC port on the Throttle Body and wipe clean with a thin/lint-free rag

Reinstall the IAC Solenoid (Make sure you don't lose the rubber gasket on the solenoid)

Reinstall the sensor connector and airhat

Start the engine and let idle for about 1 minute.

I hope this solves your problem.

after it stalls will it start if you step on the
gas and turn it over.

The 2 flaps as you call them are the throttle
plates, not what you should be looking at.

behind the 2 big holes with the plates in them is
a small hole look down in that hole with a light
its where the IAC lives.

On the very back of the body between the fire
wall and the body is where the IAC is. it has
a plug on it on an angle from the drivers side
with a little clip you lift up and pull the
plug off.

Than with a #25 torx you can remove the IAC.

If you want I can take some pictures of a mod V6
body I have here so you can see where it goes on.

I will get you a picture up here tomorrow so
you can see what to look for I have a mod V6
body in the shop I can take some pictures of
and on my V6 with the F&B 48mm

The IAC should be back off the seat when you start
to let some air in if its not it will not start
unless you step on the gas.

That is sure what it sounds like to me every time
you slow down or let off the gas it stalls
because your IAC is not compensating the air flow.

You can drop me an email I get so much spam now
it don't matter to me if someone sends me more
junk

Yes if you put your email up here I am sure a lot
of guys on this board would send to you.

I don't know about you guys on this site. I got over thirty responses to my problem and not one of you even suggested the coil, which was my problem. I hope none of you are REAL machanics. If you do play one, let me know where you work so I know NEVER to bring my Dakota to you. IAC...good thing i didn't waste my time and money on that!

How rude!...you said, and I quote, "any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated"....
You ungratefull little snot...you asked for advise and thats what you got...site unseen suggestions.
Welcome to the real world LITTLE GIRL, a true diagnosis is not free. You asked a group of fine upstanding Dakota enthusiasts for advise saying you would appreciate it, and then spit in their faces when all was said and done. We hope you don't think that you are a REAL adult...so if you should decide to continue playing one, don't EVER ask for "appreciated suggestions" around here again. Rest assured, we won't waste our time on that!
