I was driving last night and my engine at a stop light revd up slowly by itself, not much though. Then I started to drive and in second gear around 2k rpm the truck would not acceleratethen i would have to let off the gas and try again. Then the same thing happend in third gear. This is starting to happen more frequently now. Whats wrong?? Thanks for any help( 97 dakota 5 speed 3.9 100,00 miles)

I'm having very similar problems at only 12,000 miles. Only I loose power quite often. I'll loose power, can't accelerate or even keep truck moving, engine will sputter and pop like mad. If I keep my foot in the gas, the power just comes back out of nowhere and its all good again. This will trip the check engine light often when it happens. Unfortuneately its so intermittent, its gonna be almost impossible to T-shoot. I've taken it to dealer once, they drove it around the block, checked for codes...all was good. They said nothings wrong, we can't do anything about it. So I've scheduled another appointment at another dealer now. And mr goodwrench, I've changed the muffler bearings once, didn't fix it.

Good to hear someone thats straight to the point and knows what they are talking about, but you got me lost (I know nothing about muflers). Whats a mufler bearing? How does it effect the engine so much?

Yeah the power kicks in then it does not. But that engine light is staying on the whole time. Yeah what is a muffler bearing???

Mine goes off after 10 or so miles. Gonna have to wait till I take it in to see if it stored any codes.

i tried reseting the computer and the engine light did not light up until 20 miles. Now it stays on but nothing seems to be wrong. Having a friend of mine check it out Friday
