92 Performance PCM

Just thought I would let everyone know how the 92
Mopar Performance PCM worked on my 95 3.9

First test ride I had to get back to the garage and
set the crank sensor to the stock position was getting
bad detonation anything over half throttle

Just for the hell of it I popped the jet 2 chip for my 95
on and got code 24 throttle position sensor so the jet
chip must also play with that sensor signal. I know
the jet chip also alters the IAT signal about 20 degrees
so that must be how they get there timing advance.

I can run 6 degrees advance with the stock and Jet 2
2 to 3 degrees with the ASE Chip so that tells me that
the Mopar Performance computer has a more aggressive
timing curve than either set up.

Next thing I ran into was all my shift points dropped so I
had to adjust the TV cable 1 notch to get my shift points
back.

I put about 100 miles on the truck and got 19.8mpg
which is not bad on a relearn and lots of WOT's

The computer is also holding just above and below
Stoch at all RPM's

My opinion of the mopar computer is Job well done
mopar

I think they were crazy for discontinuing there production.
The reason I got directly from Chrysler was that people
thought they could use the extra power for towing and
ended up paying for about 250 new V6 motors under
warrantee.

How I would rate them after trying all 3

Stock with jet 2 a little better than stock
ASE better than stock with jet 2
Mopar Performance the best.

I just love what it did to the shifting on the trans.

Really nice the way it delays lock up to 50mph at
light throttle about 62 at 1/4 and 1/2 about 75
no bog from going into lock up at 48 like it used
to I hated that on these trucks but now problem
solved.

Vastly improving highway performance. You 96 to 01
guys the hypertech 3175 I believe should be out
soon I have 3 customers that ordered it I heard it
was real close to the mopar PCM but they did not
release any numbers yet I am waiting to see 1 in
action if anything like the mopar it will be great.

Just to bad it leaves out the 02 and 03 guys out, now
you know how us Gen. 2 OBD 1 guys feel being left
out in the cold all the time.

Just below WOT it shifts at 4500 and WOT will hold
the gears to 5200 a very nice improvement in just
the shifting.

And the performance is just so crisp over 2000rpm
I have 130 miles on the relearn and its really tuning
in nicely with all my mods and the stroked engine.

Its staying on my truck without the Apexi doing a very nice
job. I guess Mopar was right when they said it would run
after-market cams, mod intakes and Exh.

Special thanks to DODGEBOY for getting me Daniel's
phone # to get this gem its like a piece of GOLD to me.

( Thanks a million Greg) I LOVE IT..!!!

no problem larry. I'm jealous. wish I could get one. I'll be picking up another pcm to send to ase here shortly.

I like that 93 pcm so much, I allmost converted my 96 over to obd1 just so I could use it..lol

Hell ya scott, get that bad boy to the track. You should come up here to capitol raceway one day and we can get some good v6 vs v6 dak runs in.

Greg,

You will like the ASE its very noticeable over the
stocker.

I would say an easy 15hp and 20 foot pounds of
torque.

I really like mine and am going to hold on to it.

MAN between the jet chip, ASE and now the Mopar
PCM I have like a $1000 invested in computers.

I am already in the dog house because of all the
money I spent on this truck so what's a couple
hundred more going to hurt at this stage of having
fun.

If she did not shoot me yet I don't think she will

excellent performance. Very quick and responsive.

Lots of fun to drive all backraod driving getting
about 20.mpg last check 19.8mpg

There is no speed limiter or rev limiter on these
Mopar PCM's

Are you running a shift kit?

Matter of fact....now that I have the MP PCM I chirp second all the time now, not at 1/2 throttle and up!

FazDak,

I was about ready to drop my trans pan and turn up
my line pressure but now I don't have to I just had
it off 2000 miles ago for filter and fluid change
running Amsoil universal in it now. 2nd change in
5000 miles should be around 90% Amsoil

I talked with the Chrysler tech people all the time
and was told that the 92 computer also changes
line preasure,or governor something I don't remember
exactly what he said.

I was trying to get the matrix for the computer but
no luck there.

I did not go full race on my kit just wanted
firmer shifts less slippage and heat build up.
Street Strip level In 4X low range its nasty.

I break them lose if I punch it over 1/4 and just
like yours if I run half or more I get a chirp in
second every time. 8 1/4 3.55 sure grip.

I have 84,000 on the trans never been touched
except for the shift kit. I am also running a
torque converter that is about 300rpm over stock
stall. More torque & HP to the rear wheels, I
would say maybe a .5 multiplication

Did not want to get to carried away or I
would never be able to drive it in the snow.

I bought this truck new so I know it was well maintained
by me. I am running all Amsoil fluids.

With the extra power from the stroked engine and
being a 4X4 it does very well.

I have just over 4000 miles on the stroked engine
running 40psi at idle 60 to 70 while crusing. As usual
Dave our crank guy did an excellent job .0005 on
all rods and mains with plastigauge.
Everything at Room Temp

268 272 cam with the 1.7's with a efective lift of
.480 really some nice power just right for a 4X4

I blew off a Harley bike the other day he was going
like 52 53 so when I pulled out to pass he started to
get on it so I stomped her and held it he stayed next
to me up to 100 after that I pulled away letting off
at 115. I think he freaked out.

I pulled in the gas station in town and he turned around
drove through next to my truck and gave me a look that
would kill and said that is no V6 in that truck is it a 360.
I opened the hood he looked like he was going to cry
just shook his head and left without saying a word.

I think he knew something was up when he seen the
hood scoop

I just smiled closed my hood got my soda and left.
OH WHAT FUN IT IS..!!

I have just over 200 miles on the PCM relearn now
real nice. Trying to get a hold of my dyno guy to
get some #'s

Larry,
you said that you got your 3.9 stroked, I've been looking into a stroker kit for my 92 3.9l, and only found the kit offered by strokerkits.com for $2995. Can you provide us a contact that will build a crank for less rods and mains for less than that. I'm definately interest as I am saving up for the 3k stroker kit now. Any help with this issue is greatly appreciated. For the people interested in the mopar pcm, try contacting summit.

Dave the guy who does all our crankshaft work got
his hands on 2 of the stroker cranks but was very
secretive about where he got them.

He ground 1 at the 4.00 stroke and 1 at 3.58 which
is the same as a 360 stroke that is the one I have
the 360 and he sold it to me for $1500 but we do
a lot of business with him.

I did have to remove some material from the block to
clear the crank. I also had the whole assy balanced.
pistons with rings rods vibration damper and flex plate
as 1 assy $350 for that so the price on the stroker kits
. com crank is almost the same price at $1900 for
the crank.

I will be checking on the other one he had soon as
I get there to drop off a 440 crank I need ground
.010 under.

If he still has it Dodgeboy (Greg) has first shot
at the crank.

I will see if he can get more and what kind of
price he can give I know he said they were hard to
get his hands on them.

Koller Dodge still list the 92 mopar performance PCM

http://www.worldparts.com/kollerdodge/

Just put this part # in the search

P5249521 92 performance computer $246.90

Summit Racing also still list the computer with a
2 week back order.

Just put this part # in the search in the online
catalog

DCC-5249521 92 performance computer $258.95

As far as them really being able to get them I do not
know.

Does anyone have a clue as to where the Mopar performance PCM are? If it is used can it be put into other trucks just as it is new?? I mean, like Hypetech, if you take it out and sell it it is worth junk. You must deprogram it and only then will it be good. Sorry if impossible to understand, but its impossible to state clearly. Thanks.
