 Subject: clunking sound, loss of power

I was driving my 89 dakota 4x4 at 45 mph when a clunking sound came from under there somewhere, and a short loss of power. Came to a stop sign and it happened again and died on me. I was able to get it back home with no more problems. Sound familiar to anyone?
