Why bother modding a gas economy motor like the 3.9? If you want power, real power, get a 360 or a 408 stroker. Why waste money on an engine that's missing cylinders?

Intense & Larry,

Where do you buy your crack. The 3.9 is faster than many S/C'ed 8's? Maybe down hill in a Garborator. Post numbers biotches or shut the fukc up.

Yeah Right,
i have posted my times many of times on this board. I have been here for a LONG time and i will continue to give updates. As of right now i havent been to the track in about a year so thats why there isnt any recent times. There has been many more mods since my 13.52 and there are many more to go.

I would like to list my mods but i would hate to waste all the bandwidth...

Biatch.

When you pick through that laundry list of "mods", you can see that only one or two are real power making mods.

And the point is, why waste that kind of cash on a V6? If you had done the same "mods" with a V8, you would be making way more power.

that wasnt the point int he first post... besides what some of us have done is cheaper than putting in a V8.

someone who has to ask that is so insecure with themself, they are worried about getting their ass handed to them by a V6... man i woulda hated to race you with my charger... just a little 275 hp four popper in a 2000 lb car

As I have told the story on here before.........I have a fairly modified 340 Challenger.
I used to take it out and all the RICE would think it was an overweight piece of outdated iron.
Once we were done with 1/8th or 1/4 they had new respect for old iron but then a problem arised shortly there after.
They all started to say "I was cheating" with a V8.
I had my little green Dak at the time and saw that the 6mag was a pretty decent performer so I decided to mod it a bit and see how I could stand aginst the RICE.
Next thing you know I was tearing em new a$$holes left and right......they called me some instersting stuff for beating them with a V6 Dodge pickup but never a "cheater" again.

Lesson here........build whatcha got and make what you have fun for you and dont worry bout the flamers.
My motto when I was single..."do it if it feels good" and yes, even modding a 6 CAN feel good.

Intense, I think you need a good therapist. The point is, you have a highly modified V6, by your own admission. An equally modified V8 would hand you your ass on a platter.

I'm glad you like modding underdogs...that truly is a labor of love. My point is, why bother when you can achieve more by starting off with more for the same money.

let's see... please explain to me why i need a "good therapist"?

the first question was:

"Why bother modding a gas economy motor like the 3.9?"

i answered it to the best of my knowledge and experience.

SOOOOOOOOO.... that wasnt good enough for someone and they started getting offensive about how its a waste because of the kind of motor.

I want to give an example about how SUPERIOR the "V8"s are... Someone, not gonna say to protect their identity, Had the basics on their RT plus some more mods... and a 100 shot of nitrous oxide and could pull a best of 14.5 while my best is one second quicker then that.

but lets see the facts here are his advantages:

2 more cylinders
4 more valves
121 more cubic inches
2.0 more liters of displacement
3.92 gears
Limited Slip

my advantages:

weight

Now i would like to compare my truck when it was turbocharged to the "RT2" but i never ran it at the track... but i am pretty sure of myself that i woulda kicked its ass.

ONCE AGAIN PEOPLE, not everyone has a V8... not everyone can just throw down a few grand and buy one and put it in... Yes i have probably spent around the same in mods but OVER THE PAST THREE YEARS!!!

Oh, i never ran a lightning but there was a couple at the 1/8th mile track i go to... i was knocking off high 8s and they were hitting low 9s... DAMN V6!!!!

i just find it funny that someone starts these and it just seems to piss them off instead... i mean "Post numbers biotches or shut the fukc up"... i did that and it seemed to just start a different arguement.

I figured i would post everything i could in one post... kinda give it a counter attack.

but i am sure that they will think of something like "well V6s suck!"

fine by me... all i can say is every person that has seen my truck or met me has had a lot of respect for what i have done and who i am.

To you that like to start stupid a$$ arguments.....come over here (VA) and beat my V6 with your V8, if you do actually beat me I will drop a crate engine in my Dak and then call you the slow one...see if I drop a crate 402 in my Dak I still wont have as much in mine as most anyone who bought a V8 Dak at market price.

Why dont you people live and let live? Stop knocking, downing and generally being a$$es about anothers way of doing something.

In defense of the 3.9
i have oned a few fast cars over the years.
a couple of camaros, a gto, a nova ss, a hot rodded fury cop car, a coronet (with a charger drive train) a 64 skylark (430 big block)
a impala ss (427 4 speed 12 bolt)
and currently have 85 gt mustang and 89 notch
my dak 2002 rc sxt auto 3.92
removed silencer from airbox and rubber flap from along side the radiator
i drive the dak 70 miles every day to work
22,000 miles no problems
does 80 no problem
music sounds good
do I miss a v8 nah...but then again if i could get a great deal on the new hemi.. and put that in the dak... but i digress.
it tows my boat, hauls whatever back from home depot, and moves in and out of traffic
its a truck man
and a damn nice one at that
i don't know what you might think it should perform like but there have'nt been all that many trucks that performed better with the BASE motor. and most trucks (and cars for that matter) do get sold with the base motor.
why hot rod it? to be different if we all wanted the same thing the world would be a very boring place.
oh hell

wait a sec... why the hell do i need to show you my timeslip????

i know what my truck runs... i know its faster than yours because your the one wanting to see my timeslip.

I dont believe in those g-tech things either. For the most part i ran my truck at Texas Raceway in Kennedale, TX and hit a best of 8.95 @ 79 (1/8th). I ran a 13.52 @ 103 quarter mile at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX but that was a year ago... i am sure my truck is much faster now.

In other words... i have moved twice since i last raced and i have know idea where its at... but if ya would like to see my truck run, buy me some gas and fill up my nitrous bottle and i'll run it again...

by the way... several members here and at dakotatrucks.com saw me run that 8.95 @ kennedale (when i ran the 13.52 i got a 8.82 1/8th) and i am sure they can vouch for me... i killed a LS1 on that run... damn those cylinders!!
