Subject: 2300RPM studder?
IP: Logged

Message:
I have had a funny issue with my 03 Dakota RC 5 spd 3.9L SXT since day one... Every time I start it up after it has cooled down completely and drive off, it will studder/stammer at 2300 RPMs on the mark no matter what gear I am in! It will do this for only about the first 3 minutes of driving until it warms up but it drives me mad. I can even just be parked and slowly rev my engine up to 2300RPMs without even moving or having the clutch engaged and the tac will bounce around right at 2300RPMs for a bit only then to continue on up. The dealer said it was in the flash and they couldn't do anything... but I know something just isn't right... Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix? Can my flash have a bug where they could just re-load it? (or is it all or nothing) What can I do? Thanks in advance…

Thats a tough one but it would be weird for a computer software problem to only cause a problem when cold. I would say it was a tps sensor problem under any other circumstances. If it was a flash problem other people would complain about it and something like that Dodge would fix right away, imho.

I checked the TPS voltage and it was at .75v. Could it still not be working properly? If it matters, I live near Seattle (sea level, high humidity, average temp). ??? kinda weired huh

I have the exact same problem on my 02 3.9 manual. Since it is always warmed up by the time I can get it to the dealer, I can never reproduce the problem for them. If you find anything out, let me know.

I certainly feel your pain. 2300 rpm, every morning, every gear, i get a small studder.

I am glad I am not the only one... but I am sorry that you have this same issue. I will let you know if I find anything.
