Message: ?, you're a brainless idiot. I didn't say it takes 2 minutes to reach 600F. I said the target temperature is 600F for the sensor to work. But the SBEC has a timing circuit that waits 2 minutes after a cold start, then goes into closed loop and reads the O2 sensor output regardless of whether the heating element brought it up to temperature in time.

Message: My 92 3.9 does the EXACT same thing as listed in the post that started this thread.

I've tried 02 sensor, TPS sensor, IAC, etc.

Should I try the crankshaft position sensor? Where is it located on my 1992 3.9 Dakota?

Message: why guess?! have you checked the ecm for trouble codes? you can dump the error codes by turning your key on, off, on , off on
the check engine light will flash. count the flashes. all the codes are 2 digits long, with a pause between digits and codes. the last code is usually a 55. I dont remember what code a bad cps will set - but check what codes you get, if any , and we'll look then up! the cps went bad on mine, actually, the wire chaffed throught the insulation by rubbing on the bellhousing, so the fix was free - electrical tape!
