HELP!!! i got something wrong with my truck

the oil presure gauge keeps fluxuating.. it even give me a CHECK GAUGES warning on the dash.. if i drive over 1000rpms the presure goes above the center line if i go below 1000 rpms it drops below the center line.. and it use to completely go to the red line. i added some more oil and i was gonna take it in for a check up but im wondering if you guys know a good fix to this .. havent done much to my truck except put on an INTAKE and a JET PERFORMANCE Stage II chip and i do add the 91 grade gas ill add 89 at times or ill add 91 then 89 to mix them both.. HELP IF ANYONE KNOWS!!!!

Several other posts like yours, I think, found the pickup screen plugged up. Change the sending unit first. If that dosen't help, drop the pan and replace the pump. Don't just clean the screen, replace the pump. You got it apart put a pump in. You don't want to take her apart next weekend too. Hope that helps. Good luck.

change the oil filter first before you rip into the pan-- and do not use fram oil filters, they are mostly junk since they put in the oil anti siphon internal valve-- have the oil pressure sending unit checked and or replaced -- they are mostly typical dodge junk-- same poor quality as the water pumps and fan clutches--

Oil Pressure sending unit is on the top of the engine in the back right next to your Distributor. About $22 & 10 minutes.

Sounds like the above mentioned Dirty screen or Oil pump is going bad. Oil pump is only $19 but labor intensive if you have a 4WD. Not worked on any 2WD Daks but the 4WD requires pulling the engine to get the clearance you need for the Oil Pan removal. And I hope nobody put any silicone sealer on your re-usable gasket 'cuz I found out it Ruins it and the gasket alone cost $22!

Good Luck!

Actually that anti drainback valve is a good thing. Changing the oil and filter won't help, even if the filter is plugged the engine has a built in bypass so you don't loose pressure. A low oil level won't cause low pressure either unless it's so low your sucking air. A plugged pickup is possible, if you haven't kept up on oil changes the oil sludge likes to collect their. But before you throw parts at it and take stuff apart hook up an oil pressure gauge and verify that the gauge and sender are working properly. If it is an internal engine problem you could be looking at anything from the pickup screen to oil pump to bearings. Once you take stuff apart diagnosis is pretty much over, you better know what your going in there for.
