i have an 89 dodge dakota w/ the 3.9L in it. my buddy just a tube bender for up to 3in. exhaust. i was wonderin ur opinions on my different options. i was wonderin w/ single or dual exhaust. also straight pipe for either or put some kind of muffler on. any opinions would b great. thanx

You will need some kind of muffler or you will have no low end torque due to a lack of backpressure.

i know what ur sayin, but i use it as a daily driver, i dont think it will matter if i lose it, plus u cant b losing that much right? i dont use the truck enough to need that much torque, i need it for pt. A to pt. B if u know what im sayin. correct me if im wrong

jon don't know what the hell he's talkin about, you do need a muffler but you will actually gain low end torque but you'll lose alot in the top end. you probably wouldn't be able to pass someone if you wanted to.

ok i guess i will go w/ the straight duels then, but what size pipe should i go w/? any ideas on that, he said his bender will go up to 3 in. but i dont think it needs to be that big right? let me know

i have 2 1/2 inch duals on my 99 3.9 and i think that works ok but i might go with 3 inch im not sure yet.

I have 3 inch on my NA 2.0L ACR Neon, Works just fine, good enough to run 14.3s at almost 97 mph with just boltons and street tires......

You dont NEEED backpressure, its a misconseption. What you want is no backpressure and Lotsa exhaust gas velocity!! Keep the velocity up and youll be fine!
