Ok Buck,

The 32 EGR code you are getting because you
removed the Cat.

Clean your batt cables and reset your computer
while the cables are off just go in the truck
and turn the key to start and hold it there
for about 20 seconds that will clear all the
trouble codes.

You will get the 32 with out the cat just the way
the system works, when the EGR is triggered the
back pressure is not sufficient to blow the right
amount of hot exh into the manifold to hit the
IAT and tell the computer that the EGR is
functioning,

The IAT is supposed to read a slight increase in temp
when the EGR is triggered. If you would just take
the Cat and remove the guts and reinstall it you
would not get the light anymore or hardly never.

The removal of the cat may also explain your
performance loss, not enough back pressure for
the V6

I am not running a Cat either but I have my truck
very modified and stroked I get the light 32 on
occasion but just ignore it, It did not effect me
performance wise because of what I have done
to my motor, It actually helps me but on a stock
truck it will not help it will hurt performance.

Finally gutted my cat and put it back on....Still get the 32 code...Guess my next step is to replace the EGR valve. What is the piece right next to the EGR called??? I think it might be the transducer but Im not sure...Its got the vacuum lines and an electrical connector running to it. Also what year of tophat do I need to get if I want to make a homebrew Cols air intake??
Thanks
Buck

That valve with the vacume and elec connections
is the egr transducer controller, it tells the
egr when to open.

The 1 pause 2 you get all the time is start of
diagnostics. 12, 55 is end of diag.

They did not use the air hats untill 97 so if
you want to adapt that type of system you would
need to get the hat from a bone yard.

Thanks Larry.... I will try to get the Transducer and put it on. Hope it makes a difference...Is there any way to test the Egr system?? I would think that applying vacuum to it would cause it to open. Maybe not. I will try to find a top hat and make a CAI for it Maybe it will help
Thanks
Buck

You can test the vacume valve itself by removing
it, push the plunger and put your finger over
the vac line and it should stay retracted, if it
don't there is a hole in the diaphram. This is
a common thing that happens to the valve.

Never replaced a transducer yet or tested one.

What will happen sometimes is if the cat gets
pluged the heat will back up and melt the valve

I just wanted to thank the guys that helped me out with the tow package issue. I went last night and showed the dealership all the paperwork I had and they are willing to work with me to avoid a lawsuite.

Thanks Again!!
