i dont have any idea what causes this but here it goes, none of the warning beeper things sound off anymore for example, fasten seat belts, door ajar, lights on, key in ignition. the dash doesn't tell me any of this stuff with the indicator lights either. the light around the ignition switch doesn't work anymore. and the windshield wipers only work if i turn it all the way up and then back down to the speed i want and even then i only have 3 speeds instead of like 7. all of this stuff worked except for the indicator lights on the dash and the door ajar bell when i got it in september of 2002. any help is greatly apprediated.

To me it sounds like the BCM! Not sure if the Daks carry a BCM but there must be something simmilar to control such things. Call your nearest dealer and ask them

Electrical - Multiple Systems Inoperative

NO: 08-10-98
GROUP: Electrical
DATE: Mar. 13, 1998

SUBJECT:
G202 Ground Diagnosis

MODELS:
1997-1998 (AN) Dakota
1998 (DN) Durango

DISCUSSION:

Inspect the G202 ground connection when multiple
electrical complaints are encountered, such as the
following:

Blower Motor Inoperative
Power Door Locks Inoperative
Dome Light Inoperative
Chime Inoperative
Keyless Entry Inoperative
Cigar Lighter Inoperative
Power Outlet Inoperative
Console Lights Inoperative
Radio Inoperative
Overhead Console Inoperative
Instrument Cluster Gauges Inoperative

The G202 ground connection uses the same bolt that
secures the right and left lower instrument panel to the
side cowl panel (Figure 1). After verifying that the mating
surfaces of the ground connections are good, re-torque
both right and left lower instrument panel bolts to 28 N.m
(250 in. lbs.).

I know the 2002 Ram had a recall on the wire
harnass

I had a 2002 in the shop that was doing the same
things you discribed and blowing fuses.

Dealer replaced the dash and wire harnas and the
problem was solved.

Check with your dealer the recall came out on
the ram about a month ago.

Do you have diagrams?....if you provide ground to one of the non working circuits, (the wiper motor would be the most telling), and it works right then I'd say that the BCM might be the problem.
What year is your Dak? I have the service manuals for 00 Daks....you don't want to start probing and trying to ground things unless you are on the correct wire. If not a 00, I can get info on a next day basis....Let me know.

Try this,

When it starts to act up just wiggle the IGN
switch a little back and forth I also had one
witha bad switch doing the same thing.

No don't start probing and grounding things unless
you are sure what you are doing.
