Hey fellas. I have a 94 TBI and I think my fuel pump is shot. Should I lift the bed or lower the tank? I would prefer responses from fellow 94 owners so that I may inquire about other issues.
A good friend of mine has a 97 full size, it's a huge truck and his is having the same syptoms. Mine will only start once every 24 hours, run for 20 seconds, then die completely. His done pretty much the same thing. Fuel pump his problem too? Thanks

I've replaced mine by pulling the tank, not that fun. If I had to do it again I would grab a friend, unbolt the bed and work it from above. It's up to you, wrestling a tank with fuel, wrestling a truck bed...

if you decide to do it by dropping the tank get as much fuel out as possible and then set aside quite a chunk of $ as the pump and both the filters (yes 2 and I recomend you change em both while your in there) are gonna be pricy.

Easier to do with the bed off but just like you said its not a one man job. Little suggestion on the bed removal route: take the tailgate off before you lift the bed.

Good luck.

Also I don't have an owners manual so I don't know which fuse# is for the fuel pump. Is it a 15 amp? Thanks for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

Fazdak, autozone is quoting me 152.99 for the kit, has a strainer and gasket. Are these two filters main fuel filetrs? What's the nomenclature so I can do a search online.
For yall' that take off the bed, what if my truck is sitting on a lift right now, the tank is empty I have a special jack with a cradle that I can operate by myself, and I'm the size of a small house. Would this make the difference? I don't understand why people want to take the bed off.

Sounds like your a big guy who needed no help.

Glad your "the size of a small house" and have your Dak "on a lift" and can afford $153 for 2 filters. Most of us arent so fortunate.

Good luck to ya.
