Message: Sorry to have to ask this question. I tried to search previous posts, but keep coming up with a blank screen.
I'm changing my front brake pads and rotors on my 2000 4WD Dakota. I purchased the Powerstop, not Powerslot, rotors this weekend. Questions:
1. Has anyone used these Powerslot crossdrilled rotors?
2. What can I expect when trying to remove the calipers? Any problems or hints?
3. I already have ceramic pads with a lot of wear remaining. I called Powerstop and they said to use a semi-metalic pad. So I guess I'll have to purchase a new set. The ceramics are only about 8 months old.
Message: Dont know much about the pads and rotors you are using...but one peice of advise would be to take care when pulling the two slide bolts from the back of the caliper. I think they take a Torx 45 size wrench. They have a tendancy to strip out...especially if you have allowed someone other than a dodge dealer to work on your brakes. Midas stripped mine and didnt say a word...I had no clue until thousands of miles later. Not expensive to replace but none of the dealers in my area had them in stock...
Message: I have the powerslots cross drilled and slotted. They warp easy if you over torque the lugs. I swear I have always torqued to specs and I have to have mine turned for some minor warping. But I wheel allot and at times I am standing on the brake with no joy due to the brakes being hot and on a major incline.

Message: Thanks for the info forexfour. How much do you torque your lugs? I go about 100 ft.lbs. I also haven't been uning the emergency brake as much when it isn't really called for. I guess it was a high school driver ed. thing I learned a long time ago. Been trying to go about 500 miles for break-in period.
