hey guys noticed you want some more power from
your little v6, im kinda a back yard redneck
machanic so what i did is i got a air raid cold
air intake off my buddy(retail 350 to 400, got
mine for 40 bucks)and i have two v8 trucks (318
and 360) for parts, long story with those to, but
yeah i replaced the v6 magnum intake with that off
a v8. had to mod the throttle cable a tad but
other than that it took me couple of mins, i
replaced the 195 thermostat with a 180 thermostat
cuz these motor like to run a bit a cooler, i aslo
relocated my iat sensor in to the stem of the cold
air instead of in the intake manifold, im runner
cooler spark plugs and honestly for maybe 150 to
200 bucks and a little know how with a vehicle you
can make your v6 run top notch, my truck has woken
right up with these mods, its gota 3.23 rear end,
those are for cruiseing the highways but my truck
will spin em pretty good. but i am on my way to
take the 3.92's outa my parts truck and put em in
mine. should be a quick little v6.

I got a 3.9 in one of my 98 Dodge Daks and it indeed a slow pig! I got an Air raid and headers, electric fan... but it doesn't matter, that's just puttin lipstick on it. To top it off it gets 12 miles to the gal...Brutal. My 94 however with a 318 gets up and moves!! and gets around 14-18 depending on the load.

I have a 92 w/the 3.9, and it seems to me that it
has quite a respectable amount of "gitty-up-n-go"!
My last truck was a 3/4 ton Chevy w/a 350 fuel
injected boat anchor.
I really like the peppy-ness of my "little
friend"! And that's in stock form. I want to put
headers on her, but I just don't see the point.
Maybe just a good exhaust system and a fully
operational forced air induction, like a hood
scoop.
It seems the PO upgraded the ignition, but I would
like to chip it. From what I've read, that and
spark are the two best "bang for your buck" items.

My 99 4x4 Dak is a 3.9L. I get consistent 15 to 16 mpg avg, with 3 inch Rancho lift, 33x1050x15 tires, 3.92 factory gears, and 42RE trans. Pretty decent, considering that, with all the mods, my V6 probably has V8 torque/power. Airaid cold air, stage 2 JET, undersized pulleys, V8 TB with properly enlarged intaked to match, cat back exhaust, 180 deg thermostat, and electric rad fan. I only run hi octane when I tow, although it doesn't seem to make much difference. It has low end torque to spare (launches hard/fast), but still lacks a bit out on the interstate above 70 mph, (the 3.92s), but far better than stock.
