do you guys still suggest the scan tool that is available from www.obd-2.com my understanding is that you have to hook it up to a laptop in order to do anything, right? any draw backs to this scan tool. Thanks

Yes, you'll need a laptop to use the utility from OBD-2. I've been using it for about a year now...no drawbacks as they updated the software to run under Windows2000.
