Subject: Great mod - WOW !!!

I just removed my clutch fan on my 2000 3.9 and decided to let my auxiliary electric fan handle the cooling of the engine and WOW can I ever tell the diff. Before removal the engine just felt like it was holding back and now it wants to rev much easier. Now I just have to get enough confidence that the elec fan will do the job before installing an underdrive pulley. Anyone have any thoughts whether that will slow down the water pump too much and allow the engine to overheat?

Nah...won't hurt the cooling system at all. However, that aux fan isn't enough to keep everything cool once the summer hits. Invest in a BlackMagic-150 for the V6. That's what i've been using for well over a year and it handles the Texas (100+) summer heat, with the A/C on, without any problems.

I run the ASP underdrive pulley as well on my '97 with the BM-150.

Bernd, the problem is that I have the fan shroud that has the wiper res and radiator overflow in it and that makes mounting the Black Magic 150 difficult even with removing/relocating the stock aux electric fan. Any ideas?

Easy fix:

Use the older model washer resevoir and an aftermarker catch-can for the radiator overflow.

We did this on a '01 R/T with a Lincoln fan conversion...works excellent.

What did you do with the aux electric fan, remove it or relocate it? Could it be flipped and made to be a pusher for the front of the radiator?

Intense, thanks for the bail out but I have looked at it a little closer, disasembled about half the truck and it looks like I can leave the top portion of the fan shroud in place and mount the Black Magic fan beneath it.
