Subject: what torque for tranny pan bolts?
IP: Logged

Message:
im replacing my transmission pan gasket, and filter, its been about 15,000 mile on my rebuild so im deciding to replace my filter and fluid...one major reason for doing this so early is i have a cork gasket on it right now, and leaks like a sive! i have to put about 1 quart of atf+3 in it a week or depends on how much i drive it. so im going to replace it with a rubber gasket...i just need the torque specs on the transmission pan bolts, it an A-500. also will 8 quarts do it?

thanks alot,
whitedakota

150inch lbs? sounds a tad much, but that sounds good to me...well eight quarts work for the filter change?

thanks again,

the 150 inch lbs. is what the repair manual says, remember that's Inch not Foot lbs. it's not as tight as you might think that may be why your leaking now someone over tightened them and may have bent the pan lip.

Manual says 4 qts for drain & refill 9-11 qts dry fill

if that tranny be aluminum cased maybe the bolts stripped out the threads if the bolts be to 150 lb ft instead of inch lb.
