I found this forum when i started looking for a dakota...now i can happily say i baught one! 1999 Dakota Sport 2WD 3.9L 5-speed "intense blue". I would have loved to get the R/T or one with a V8, but for me just turning 16 and being a new driver there would be no way i could afford insurance/gas while still adding mods. So, as I drive it, add things, ect...im sure i'll be visiting this forum to ask questions and learn about my new toy as I dont know much more than the basics about a truck motor. I race four-wheeler so i can tell you anything about a two-stroke but these cams and stuff are all new to me! I pick it up tomorrow from the dealer then when it stops raining ill take some pics.

Well welcome a board to the Dakota board.
I am 17, (bought it last year, well my parents bought it for me)
Good luck with everything, a tip for you. while using the board, use the search option some of these people here get really cracky when you ask the same question.
Good Luck and have fun!

Thanks for the advice....yea i managed to get my parents to pay for 1/2....but no such luck yet on insurnace and gas money....thats all up to me. I have been using the search to look at things. Being in the quad racing world there are an unlimited amount of mods you can do and im seeing thats the same way with the dakota, and its sooo addicting, human nature. Im already having my dad spray a "Speedliner" spray on bed liner so i can get rid of that POS drop in one the dealer gave me. This will also make the bed more durable to throw the quad in the back and go riding w/out having to get my dad to drive me everywhere.

Well thanks for the welcome, im sure you will be hearing from me in the future!

yea nothing major as far as motor stuff for me...just the headers/cat-back and a filter system are my plans...i really like the Ram Air hoods but those are $$. System comes first after the spray on bed liner. I mean i dont even have my license yet so i have plenty of time, I dont need a system with mom riding along...that will come when i can actually drive the thing on my own.
