With the tempuratures that are generated there in that area...the cure time should be 48 hours. tell her to come to you.

48 hours is pretty aggressive.... dontcha think guys? I mean, if you heat the stuff up too early, it's just gonna leak again....

I'd give it at least til Friday afternoon. Friday morning maybe, but afternoon will be safer.

Otherwise you'll end up doing it over again.

I wouldn't trust that freind to much, a couple the folks that posted are ASE Certified Mechanics Above. You should really give it 48 hrs just to be safe.

You are an idiot dude. Did you bother to read the instructions that were on the side of that RTV sealant? If you used the BLUE RTV SEALANT than more than likely you were ready to rock 30 minutes after you applied the stuff. Hope you replaced the gasket as well....after all, RTV is only as good as the gasket is.

Furthermore.....why on Earth would you waste time posting a message like that for? If you had to ask, you shouldn't be working on your own truck. If you took it to the dealer to have the thermo replaced, your truck would have been done with in 2 hours...not 2 days. I suppose the next thing you are going to ask is when should you start to grease your muffler bearings?

Do yourself a favor...ask yourself this....should I really be working on my own truck? Or should I take it to someone who knows what the hell they are doing?

The choice is yours...2 hours or 2 days

Exactly..... I mean thats what we are here for is to help. Anyone who knows anything about RTV would know that once the area is sealed ..... the oxygen takes a little bit longer to reach the center. It has nothing to do with the temp due to its an enviormental type cure. 48 hrs minimum
