Yesterday i was driving home from the gym, when i noticed a strange smell. When i got home i popped the hood and steam was coming underneath the hood. I put some water and antifreeze in the radiator and started my truck back up, water then began to spew out of the water pump, could it be a bad seal or gasket? or bad water pump?

by the way i have a 98 r/c with 86k

yes, the bearing/seal inside the pump went out. Water pumps (or most of them) have a weep hole in the bottom of them so that when that bearing goes bad, it will leak coolant to let you know about it

Intense is right, its the water pump, they do have weep holes, not to hard to fix/replace.

I just had mine replaced...took 1 hour. I bought a new pump from A-zone for 54 bucks, paid a radiator shop 60 bucks to put it in. I replaced on on my 92 Dak and can tell you it was worth paying the 60 bucks to have someone else do it.
Just my 2cents.

I agree with Rick, my 97 kota pump went out last month coming home from work. I bought the part at a part store by home and paid a shop to put it in. But they charged about 78 i think, maybe i should have gone to Rick's shop ;) Whatever you do, DONT go to dodge to get it fixed, they were gonna charge me 150 for the part and 300 or so for the labor! TOTAL RIP OFF! Sometimes these dealerships really piss me off! Always look around before you get things done!
