Hi
I am a Dakota NEWBIE. I've had the truck for a week or so now. The tach will cut out and go down to zero, then back up where it should be. I think there's a loose connection or something in there. Seems to work better when I'm driving as when I'm parked it's usually dead. Suggestions as to what to look for?
Also, does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram for a '91 Dakota?
thanks

I was having that problem as well. but it would just quit while driving down the road (higher speed it did it more often) then the problem went father and all my guages would quit. That posed a problem because I didn't know how fast I was going. Also the dashboard lights don't come on somtimes as well. The Dealership said it was a lose connection behind the dashboard and would require the dashboard to be taken apart totally. Hope this helps.

I had this same problem and I fixed it by taking out the gauge cluster. it's not hard, took about 20 minutes. Just take out some screws, unhoook some connections and it's out. just clean the circuit board behind it(carefully), and put it back in and make sure all the connections are tight. that's how I fixed mine.

thanks 94dakota!

That did the trick! It was that the connection between the main board on the back and the little circuit board on top was corroded. I scraped off the corrosion and put it back together and now the tach works.

yippee!
