Congrats man, can't wait to do the same. What kinda TB did you put on? Fastman, F&B, or stock V8?

An air intake of anykind will help alot to the lower rpm levels, especially now since you have the V8 tb. The more air sucked in = more hp/torque.

Hope you have fun.

Hi Cal Dak! I'm extremely happy with my new throttle body. I never thought that it would have made such a difference. It's a stock V8 tb off a 99 model 5.2L Ram. I got it from a local used parts warehouse (junk yard) and for a whopping $50.00 it's probably the best investment in my truck so far. Good luck with yours!

I got my Fastman 46mm about 3 weeks ago, and I agree it was the best mod yet. It should have been the 1st thing I did not the last!

Stephen,

The basic mods are:

Cool air intake system
New TB
Cat-Back exhaust

As for the TB I think there are 3 ways to go and they depend on how much $ you want to drop.

!st: V8 TB conversion about 130$(97-present 5.2 or 5.9 TB will work.... maybe even earlier models not real sure?)
2nd: Fastman TB 250$
3rd: F&B Billet TB about 420$

They are all real close in performance so it's up to your wallet...(www.thefastman.com) was my choice and it works bitchen!

As for other mods and there are a ton, just surch this site for "performance V6" and open a new line of credit!

Darryl,
Thanks for the input.
I have a question though, after looking at the "KRC performance' site.
Question.....Why does the KRC site state? :
" Stay with the 48mm for the V-6, the stock V-8 can prove to be too much and kill any torque you may have made before."
Any thoughts.............

kill torque, yes
kill hp, no way

Here's the scoop. Engines are just big breathing beasts. The more air in and out, the more hp gains in the top end. As for torque, compression or back pressure makes for more bottom end. Stock engines are made to maximize both of these things for you. As you make mods here and there you will gain top end hp and loose low end torque or vice versa. That does not mean that you cannot have both, I definately do on my truck but it is a tricky balance. A stock v8 allows more air into your intake manifold and with an open exhaust this will really equate to a lot of top end gains, but it will destroy any hardcore pulling capability. If you are running a street truck and don't forsee yourself towing a yacht anytime soon then don't worry about it but if you are running a 4x4 and are planning on turning some big meaty tires then you might want to look into other mods to compensate.

In short, mod your truck to the max and have fun doing it but be prepared to make subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) changes to your truck to compensate. New tb, intake and exhaust is a great place to start. But new gears will help bring back your torque. Decide what your ulitmate goal is and plan your route from there. Just remember that for every bit of air you get through the engine, you have to compensate for loss of low end torque.

98 V6 4x4CC, 3.92 gears (going 4.56), 180 t-stat, V8tb, custom ram air intake, SpinTech turn-down exhaust, modified TPS and IAT, 7 inches over stock, 33x12.50 Pro Comp Xterrains on AE589's and all the other little stuff that make for one bad 4X4.

No-Neck,
Thanks for the detailed explanation. Just trying to get some ideas on what I might do in the future. I want to make a trip to the 'junk yard', when Spring gets here, I would like to pick-up a spare TB for future use.
