I have a 93 3.9
It sounds like the rockers are tapping the valve covers. Is this normal of this vehicle at 112,000 miles?

Well could be several things. If it is just after you start it when it has been sitting a long time then it could be the lifters are bleeding off oil. Replacing some or all would help. If it is while it is running all the time then you may have low oil pressure to the lifter gally which could be a big problem. The oil pump may be going, which would take out the whole motor, or the oil gally may be getting plugged with oil goo. Also may be a cam going bad, if the power seams down from normal, that might be it as well.

A can of Restore (trade mark) will help higher millage motors run a little longer. I have used it in two different engines with good success in both. But if things are really going down hill then it may be time for as much as a new engine.

It is hard to say without hearing it. Check with either someone you can really trust or go to several places. If they all say the same thing then you have your answer.

I hope it isn't too bad.

VERY possible it could also be the timing chain it is a know problem to have them tap or click and sound like lifter noise.
