I have a 2003 4W Dakota Sport and I am having a VERY difficult time finding an answer... If a different size tire was on the truck when I purchased it than what it came with from the factory, and the new tires were an option from the factory, would the PCM not have the option to set the tire size for the tires that are currently on it since they were an option? I have it at a local dealer and they are saying there is no option to change the PCM to match my tire size, but are still charging me for looking at it. I don't have a problem with them charging me if they looked at it and there really is not an option, but it seems odd that with my correct tire size being an option from the factory that there wouldn't be that option in the PCM.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tire size can be programmed. They should have known whether or not they could do it before they "looked" at it.

Tell them that you are not in the business of paying them to learn.

Thanks! I really like your response. :) I should tell them that. One would think they would have known that before hand. When I spoke with Daimler Chrysler they said I would need to talk to my local service center to know for sure if it was possible, so they should have had the answer, or known where to find the answer before I brought my truck in.
Again, thank you.

puttin in numerically lower gears will make ur take off and low end slower, puttin in numerically higher gears will have the opposite affect, i dont think goin from 3.55 to 3.21 is a good idea, if nething go to 3.92

3:21=for hyway +mpg
3:92 faster off the line higher rpm at hyway speeds=lower mpg
3:55 nice in between............
With fuel prices the way they are 3:21's might be a good choice.

Not to make too fine a point of it but the correct way to express the ratio is 3.21:1, or simply 3.21 - not 3:21. And unless you have a RC manual tranny and stay with 28" tires I'd forget about the 3.21 gears - engine rpm isn't the only factor affecting mpg.
