Ok, I got a 91 dakota, 3.9L auto... Its got overdrive and everything... Im almost SURE its got the A500 Tranny... Right? Isnt the A500 the one with overdrive? Im buying a rebuild kit, but I dont wanna buy the wrong one, So Does that sound about right to everyone else?

well you may have a 42rh or a 46rh
you can get more info in 3 places
1st the glove box
it well have a sticker pasted to it in line 1 didgits 1-3 well be the sales code for the tranny
2nd
there is a metal plate attached to the floor pan on the passenger side , near the rear window
again line one, the bottom line, the first three didgits well be the tranny code
3rd
on the tranny just above the gasket surface on the left side the first group is assembly part number, the second group is the trans build date,the thrid group is the serial number ,
the numbers on the tranny well be the most accurate for ordering new parts, a transmission shop or the dealer can tell you for sure what it is you have or worst case what you dont have
please note this info is what i scrapped from my 93 dont be to surprised if its not all there.
but from personal experience the vehicle is 91 and you havent owned it since new then get the numbers from the transmission to avoid any problems

Thanx for the help. I knew there was a sticker in the glovebox, but it seems like last time i looked it wasnt there anymore, a while back I tried the floorpan one, but i couldnt find it, the guy i talked to said it was near the pass. seat, Ill look near where you said to look.

Just simply call the Dodge boys parts counter with the last 9 digits of your VIN and they can tell you EXACTLY what tranny you have installed.

Yes the a500 is for overdrive.thats what i have.Just had my trans replaced
