(1998- 3.9L 4x2 100k+ miles mostly highway)
I'm Looking at buying a 3.9 with a lot of miles 100k+ for a work vehicle. I Can get it cheap but it has a trans problem. Ocasional rough shift between 2 and 3(automatic). Lookig for sugestions or opinions . maybe a a whole tranny, new torque convertor, some sort of adjustment?? I read somthing about a shift linkage on the bell housing that can cause a similar problem but it was not ellaborated on. Sorry if this has been covered, but i had little or no luck with the search.
Thanks,
Dan

Owners Manual recommends having the bands checked & adjusted every 30K miles, maybe someone neglected. ;(

Anybody parting out a wrecked Dakota or have an extra Trans Laying around? Searching yards now but thought i'd look here. I know there are always parts to be had on the grand prix forum i'm on, not too familiar with this one though.

Look for TV cable adjustment on the forum and do the trans service as DakotaDan suggested. The Tv cable is easy and cheap, and may help a bunch. Trans service will cost a little more, but not as much as a trans. Good luck.
