I've seen some dual tube intakes and I was wondering if anyone has actually made one of these on their own. They look good but the things are expensive or if anyone has home made ram air let me know. thanks.

be careful with the homemade ram thing. i made one and had it going straight out the front of the radiator and right into the airbox with a K&N filter and it ran awful!!! my friends and i think that maybe there was a vacuum being created in the front of the truck while it was moving and it was actually sucking air out of the airbox. Don't know really, I unhooked it and it runs much better.

I made one and it works fine. I did mine a little different than those I've seen elsewhere. Basically I got a 3 inch pipe from a big rig part store (used for exhaust) and cut it to about 8 inches long and drilled a hole in it to place my IAT sensor then inserted it between my airbox and airhat and fastened it with two fernco fittings from Home Depot. I then used ABS plastic with a couple of 45 degree bends to go from the airbox to the flap next to the radiator in the grill. Instead of removing the flap I cut a hole in it so that I could support the end of the intake in the flap while theoretically forcing the air into the tube. To make things cleaner looking I placed a 4 into 3 coupler on the intake side of the tube so that I could hopefully scoop more air. I don't know whether any of this stuff works scientifically or not but I think it looks smooth and with my K&N drop in and my V8 TB it seems to run awesome. By the way I had this setup before the V8 TB and it worked well then. The total cost for tubing was about $30 but you might do better by shopping around.

sounds cool no-neck, maybe mine just ran awful cause i didn't have the bigger TB. Who knows, can't imagine that it would really be all that beneficial, can only take what the TB can suck. but hey, every truck is different and that is what makes everyones ride so different. Do you have problems with your truck carbbing up with the IAT relocation? Where is the dang thing at anyways from factory? I hear a lot of people saying about clogging up cats a lot quicker, and idling rough. That would suck having to get another cat after only a year or two!!!

Naw, no problem with the cat or IAT. It idles fine but not at first. It seemed to take a couple of minutes to adjust to the change but since it did whatever it does to adjust itself, it has been running great. The air flow is a main factor for sure. I agree that the TB can only take so much air but I believe that is where my wide open exhaust comes in. I can flow more air in since I flow so much air out.

The AIT on my truck was in the intake manifold right below the TB on the passenger side. I don't know if it is there on all trucks but it was on mine. Mine is grey with a brass fitting. I plugged the hole with a threaded plug from OSH.

This is only my experience and I'm sure that there are variances in everybodys ride but it worked for me. Speedtweaks helped a lot and I really enjoyed the process. I guess that's what this is all about, enjoying the process of building out your truck.
