In your opinions how much HP & Torque do you think I will have by adding these mods to my stock V6:
Flowmaster 50 magnaflow dual out(with 2.25 in. pipes-already put on), Volant air intake, ASP crank pulley, 180 degree thermostat and V8 TB.

I was hoping to get a total of 205 HP, and 235 Torque.

Any guesses are very appreciated.

lets break it down....

Flowmaster 50 magnaflow dual out(with 2.25 in. pipes-already put on):
it will probably sound good but still noticeably a v6. not too much gains in hp/tq, maybe even a loss due to the duals.

Volant air intake:
will help a liitle when combined with the exhaust but not to much. freeway passing will improve a bit.

ASP crank pulley:
may be one of the better mods. again, not too much to gain but there will be some slight gains. more than the exhaust for sure!

180 degree thermostat:
engine will run a lot cooler but nothing noticeable in the hp/tq department.

V8 TB
your best overall mod. you will notice an immediate improvement in all areas. don't know about the hp/tq numbers, though.

the bottom line is that 205hp is very unlikely but your engine will run a LOT smoother, cooler, and will be able to hold its own on the freeways.

****this is only my opinion/experiece. others may think different.

thanks for answering, i was afraid nobody would cause everyone asks this kinda stuff. I agree that maybe the 205 HP is a little much but i was hoping that the Torque would be up near 230. All i want is for this truck to take off the line fast, and Torque will do that for me.

Any other guesses?

Last year when I answered a question like this almost nobody liked it so I'll do it again anyway.

You have to remeber that when they give a factory rating they have an engine on a stand under the most optimal conditions with NO in car issues that ANY used or even new vehicle can subject an engine to.
That being said dont forget that if the factory rates an engine like our 3.9's @175 than that means your getting somewhere in the range of 150's to the tires.
You add all your mods on a used Dak and you may end up getting it back up to factory #'s but it seems (from all the dyno #'s posted) that it takes some serious parts and power adders to get a 3.9 much above factory #'s.

Sorry for restating all this, I just hate to see people get to confident from the optimistc hp #'s that these aftermarket parts providers claim.

Keep the faith.

Just my thoughts here, on the Jet chips site they dynoed a stock 2000 or 2001 3.9 and the dakota produces just 133 hp to the rears so if you do the math here it takes 42 hp to run the drive train(assuming that the jet dyno is accurate)and the hp figures dodge gives are correct. Also check out ryan33's post he dynoed his Dak and got 156 hp roughly and his truck has a crapload of mods including the jet chip, so if you add the 42 hp to run the drivetrain his runs aprox. 198 hp witch is around the figures your loking for.....hope it helps

i noticed an improvement in throttle response when i took out the hold down bolt, and its mount for the breather and replaced it with a piece of threaded rod bent to fit
that factory hold down ,shrouds the venturi's and just causes turbulence in the intake.
i dont know if volant suppies a new bolt with the intake gear.
also noticed that the cooler plugs helped out some . but the stock coil dosent produce enough juice to keep them clean

I have a friend whos father owns a shop and he has a 2001 stnd cab 2wd 3.9 5 spd and he has the following mods
jba headers, jet chip stage 2, venom 400 control module, intense intake, gibson single exit, some fabricated transmition and drivetrain improvements and 180 therm, and he runs 92 gas and he has dynoed his truck at 163hp and 252 tq at the rear wheels. he is also getting 0 to 60 in 6.7. so I think it is perfectly possible, the main thing is the drivetrain to get you faster 0-60. check the rear ratio and all that good stuff.

andy.. 0-60 in 6.7??! are you sure it wasn't 16.7 secs? that sounds more accurate.

whew, that is a fast 0-60 time for this truck. Anyways what of the already listed mods should i put on first. Granted they are all eventually coming on, just a matter of getting the money. Should i go cheap with the crank pulley or save up for the TB?

thanks again guys
