Ok I'm going with fairly stock CAT and a flow master single in single out 40 or 50 series on my 3.9 (my CAT broke loose and damaged the muffler as well, long story). what I need to know is do the mufflers come in different pipe sizes and if so what size should I get, and second if I Y the pipe after the muffler and run dual tips out the back will that make any difference (good or bad) in horse power since in putting the Y pipe after the muffler? I was told by Bernd not to go over 2-2.25" pipes if I run a dual system but I don’t know if he meant for the Y pipe duals or if he meant true dual exhaust. I could use any help I can get my dealer is doing the work for free, but he is taking the truck first thing Monday morning and if I don’t know what to ask for he will just put the a stock exhaust back on my truck, PLEASE HELP

Thanx mucho
Josh

If your Dakota is a '97+ then you'll want a 2 1/2" inlet to match the factory pipe. As for the muffler outlets, factory single exhaust is 2 1/2", but if you want duals then don't go over 2 1/4". I think they make 2 1/2" in with 3" single out, but I'm not sure. I know the 3" will deepen the tone of your sixer, but I don't know how comparable it is to the dual outlet with regards to performance.
