I'm new here and I think this site is great. Why haven't I found this place sooner?

Anyway, I have a lifted dak with big 33's and I have noticed a big drop in exceleration (duh). I saw some old posts about porting (?) your tb and I just don't get it. I might just be slow but I don't get how far down you dremel out and how to know where to stop before the butterfly thingy's (technical term, huh?) I get the idea about air flow and removing the air horns, I understand the concept as a whole and I see why this mod helps but I need some directions I can print out. Can anyone help?

I think you should try it to look somewhat like this:

That's an F&B TB. I can recommend installing it, but if you want to port the stock TB it might give you an idea.

Best option, find a used V8 TB or buy a new one from the dealer if you want. Also buy a new V8 TB cable. Replace your TB cable with the V8 one and swap the TB's out. The V8 is the same externally except for the larger bores. This will make a huge difference to power. You can get both from www.speedtweaks.com if you want.

Yes, don't buy another V6 TB. Best would be a used V8 to work on. Instead of installing a V8 cable you can also switch the linkages on the TB itself. Saves some money and time...

Andy, one of these days somebody will buy into the idea of not swapping the cables out when doing the TB change but it looks like it's a hard sell, LOL

Dirkota, true enough! Switching linkages is a breeze, above all if you are porting the whole thing and all...

So Andy, swapping the linkage is an easy thing to do? I haven't looked at the TB yet so I can only assume that the linkage swap is as easy as a couple of screws? Is there anything else I need to know?

It's easy compared to installing a new cable. You need to grind away some material where the V8 linkage is attached, take it off and then weld on the V6 one. I have a '97 and it fit right away.

If you don't have the equipment, any mechanic should be able to do that in max 10 minutes (more like 5...). You can then use your original throttle cable.

Just put on my v8 tb today too snowy to see if i will like it but for now its ok.
All i did is use the v6 shaft, cut about a 1/4 inch of metal out of the slot that the blades slide into. Had to cut out material so v8 blades fit into the v6 shaft. So i didnt need to buy anything extra. There is at most a 1/4 inch of metal that could be removed, on half of the circular openings on the intake manifold.
