Anybody run a ported and polished modified V6 TB. Just wondering if it's comparable to stock V8 tb swap?

According to Dan at Fastman, the V8 TB causes you to lose some low end, unless you change your intake or other top end changes. On a stock layout, he claims you get better performance from porting the V6 TB. I had changed to a V8 TB last summer, and found he was right. I still had the V6 TB laying around, so I ported it and I think it's comparable to the V8 TB. The main thing is that I got back some of the low end I lost when I put the 3" tail pipe on the Magnaflow.

I think I'll look for a V6 TB to grind on, if I can just find my hack saw and dremil tool? Hmmm, where did I put those...

It cost me $49.95 for the Dremel, and about $3 to make the S-Bolt. :0)

It's not too hard, I didn't use a hack-saw, just dremeled those bits off... but that took a -long- time... it would have helped to have a vise to clamp the silly thing down somewhere.

Yes, once I can get a V6 TB off ebay I'm gonna modify it, or if I see one on here for sale. Did you feel some improvement? Did you totally flaten the top or take the horns down some? What did you do to the bores, anything? My concern there would be eveness.

Damn this topic is up again!!

I have 2 stock V6tb's,1ported V6tb, 1stock V8tb and a heavily proted V8tb (on now, NX likes it best).
The best my Dak felt before NX was with the stock V8tb. Those guys will tell you alot that isnt always the truth because 1: they sell the stuff and 2: they get spec sheets from the manufactures, not hands on expereince.

Anyway, a stock V8 tb is your best mod per dollar on a mildly modded V6 (in my opinion).

Good luck

Faz, I agree with you on that I bought a Flometrics for mine and I was pretty happy with it at first. I had a chance to buy a new stock throttle body pretty cheap I took of the Flometrics to clean it and put the stock throttle body on and drove it. Not much difference.
