Hey can putting 31x10.50 AT's on a 97 Dakota hurt it? I mean if it does rub a little will that cause any problems, such as ripping the bumper cover off?

I just put 31x10.5x15 AT tires on my 2001 2wd this afternoon. I drove it around for a while, and so far, knock on wood, nothing is rubbing. These new tires will most likely kill my mileage and acceleration, but they're only going to be my winter tires.

minij1515,

So far I really can't notice a difference in performance. Then again, I haven't really tested it, but for everyday driving it seems normal. However, they are a helluva lot louder than my all-season tires.

been there done that. Looks great! BUT--------
if I turn to the left, locked out---the tires rub. Otherwise no rub, and on 97 the fender wells are so large it just looks right. BUT---
my mileage has fallen 5-7 per gallon----AND, now I am trying to diagnose a warmer engine condition (not overheating but definitely hotter) which may be related to turning all that rubber up a steep grade.----Looks right though:)

I have 31x10.5's on mine. My mileage improved but it kills your acceleration.
