Tomorrow I am going to our local pull-it-apart junk yard to pick up a v8 T.B. and cable. But i have read about how the butterflies hit the intake manifold, or the intake hole is to small for the larger T.B bore? Is this true, I have a 1993. I dont want to do any grinding to the manifold.

Thanx

P.S. How do you check codes on a 93 dak?

I didn't do anything to my manifold (1996 dak) and the v8 tb works fine, you would probably notice a greater improvement if you did do some work to the manifold, but it's not required.

Check this web site:

http://www.geocities.com/Baja/Desert/1727/FaultCodes.html

Pick up a Chrysler Service Manual, it will give you all the info you will need to get that Dak running........All I did was clean my TB...$5 investment & my truck went from being a dog off the line to one that will smoke them tires...

Do you use the cable bracket from the V8 TB or do you use the existing bracket thats on the V6 to hold the V8 cable when you install the V8 TB? Thanks

I'm new to engines. What is a TB and where is it? What is it's role in the engine? Thanks for the info. :-)

TB is short for throttle-body. It sits on top of the intake manifold and looks like a small carburator, however, the TB only regulates the amount of air entering the engine. The computer tells the fuel injecters how fast they must "pulse", or squirt based on information it receives from sensers, some of which are located on the TB, this is what the wires you see go to. people swap out the TB due to the proven beleif that "more air + more fuel = more power".....don't forget that easy air in + easy exhaust out = a more efficient engine.....

Thanks. Does that mean also if you get a better air filter that will help with the amount of power in the engine? I've been reading about the K & N filters, are they worth the expense? Learning lots from this forum, thanks again.

Are power increasing products worth the exspense? Well, first off....nothing short of a healthy dose of Nitrous Oxide will grab your attention in the improvment of performance, but it's the accumulation of many small improvements over time.....mostly done yourself...that give gear-heads the steady drive to continue their compulsive, uncontrollable behavior patterns that border on demonic possession.....It's worth it to me.......Performance mods. can be justified by explaining out the improvement in fuel milage, but we gear-heads know that deep down inside, that explaination is bull-poopy..........never tell my Dad I used the term bull-poopy, please.

Wow, now that's an insight that I'd never have come up with, but has alot of truth. All the stuff you read about on this board does improve the working dynamics of the trucks. Just don't expect any one small improvement to change the rotation of the world.

It has been proven that intake and exhaust improvements increase MPG. Lets say you spend $500.00 on these improvments THE DAY you buy your truck. Lets also say that the improvement in MPG is 15% over stock. How many miles will you have to drive the truck for the improvments to pay for themselves........this will be on your final exam.

thanks for all the input. i went to the pull apart today and all the daks were so stripped apart that it was hard to tell they were actually dodges.

and about the code thing, it says i have a numbe 12 code, or maybe it was a 22. who knows, it runs fine and beats the s-10's and rangers.
hahaha
