Was just wondering, first of all where is the IAT sensor located from factory and secondly where is the ultimate spot for relocation? Is it easy to put the sensor back to factory location say if I were to take the truck in for service? Warranty can be very touchy about that kind of stuff! I don't have an intake, just turned the elbow on the factory box into a 5inch and put it further into the fender and made less of a bend, put a drop in filter in too, tried the ram air thing, but i think it created a vacuum in front of the truck and honestly it ran worse! It runs good like this. Debating if I even want to get an intake for it. So if i was to relocate this sensor where should i put it, how about just shielding it from the manifold? I love this board, I have found a lot of help from these people! Keep up the great work!!

Buy or make a cold air intake. The sucking sound is normal. Then relocate the senosr to the cool air tube. I put mine in the bend of the tube. Remove the rubber flap on the side of the radiator too.

I did remove the flap in the front, and had an intake on, it was an airaid. First, it didn't really help, i swear it ran worse!! I reset the computer too. Second, i was extrememly paranoid about everything coming through that opening in the front, mostly water, and sucking up into my intake. I hit a big ass puddle and stopped and looked and the filter was soaked all around, i hope that oil does its job on that filter!! I took it all off and put the flap back on. I can't risk losing my warranty if the engine should vapor lock!!!

... that's hydro lock - and, unless you have the intake under water, that is extremely unlikely.
I have splashed through some really fun - er, deep puddles without incident. Yes, the filter gets damp, but it "suck-dries" itself quickly.

Oh duh, hydro lock, what was i thinking? Cool, thanks for the input. Always was worried about that. Guess they wouldn't make them if they would cause that many problems. I guess i'm gonna put it back on. I need some direction on a flowmaster, was thinking a 70 series, i want good sound but don't want it to sound like an import! It is only a V6, don't know how deep it is gonna sound.

For all I know my truck could of never had a flap in the front. I bought it used, its a 2000 SLT loaded and I could be wrong but I highly dout that a teenager or anyone like us drove it because the truck was spotless when I got it and it still had a new truck smell. The first owner might of taken the flap out but the elbow in the airbox was still there. Oh well, I really don't care. I also went mudding with the flap gone and the elbow removed and I got almost nothing in the airbox.

I did some research on Flowmaster's website before I bought my muffler. The best flowmaster for a 3.9L is actually a 50 series SUV. The 40 series is a little too loud in my opinion and I'm very happy with the choice I made. The 50 Series SUV is designed for large displacement engines so you're not going to get that "import" sound. What you'll get is a really cool, deep rumble but not too loud on the highway. Anyway, good luck!
