Not quite. My sister has a 91 beige and bondo Ford Tempo with 180,000 kms., also a 4 cyl. Mazda Tribute. Pretty sure I can toast her in either one.

i wouldn't count out 4 cyl rangers i was behind one once and i had trouble catching it and yeah i think they can beat LI Blackdaks too jackass.
BTW Bernd doesn't count!!! any modded V8 would toast him and if he did all that to a 5.9 it would be as fast as a viper but instead its as fast as a Grand Cherokee Overland. Not that I have anything against him. He obviously knows what he's doing, but V6's suck especially when compared to the V6's in other cars like the Maxima/Pathfinder, S10, RX300, MDX, LIBERTY, 2002 RAM!!, just about all of them have more hp then the tired old 3.9!!!! and they all get at least 20 mpg...lets not forget I6's...Trailblazer (270 hp) Jeep 4.0, and the list goes on ....and dont get me started on the 4 cyls..ugh...RSX type s...LETS FACE IT!! V6 daks look better then everything (cept V8's) but their also slower!!!!! I WISH I GOT A V8!!!!

I've raced a few s-10 4.3s 5-speeds at the track a couple of months ago, didn't lose to any of them. They were between .1-.3 behind me, which is close.
Ranger??? I spanked the new EDGE v6 5-speed at the same track by 1.5 seconds, it wasn't even close!
Liberty??? No magazine has gotten the liberty out of the low to mid 17 second mark. The best I read was a 17.3, I expected much better.
The new Ram ran a 17.1 (5-speed) at the SportTruck Mag new truck shootout. The truck also won best new Truck!!! I've you noticed how much bigger the new rams look, which probably adds to their weigh. Even the great 4.7 can't work miracles with something that heavy.
The Pathfinder, RX300, or Trailblazer are quicker but look how expensive they are! I'd rather buy a Lightning for close to the same price and spank those supposedly quick suvs.
Just to let you know, no R/T has run as fast as Nick Crammer's '97 v6. "Any modded v8" can't toast a 11.2 in the quarter.
Oh, you want to talk 4 banger? You mentioned the RSX being faster than the v6Dak, well its also faster than a v8dak. I've seen them post high 14 to low 15 quarters in stock trim, while on the same track a stock single cab R/T ran a 15.6. Try not to compare trucks to cars half the weight, apples and oranges.

Im not comparing them I'm just b|tching about how many cars have more hp and can beat us and the 11.2 V6 was Twin turbo and bored out I think which makes it not a 3.9.
and you would prefer a lightning to an RX300???

mine is 4x4 auto CC!! its pretty slow....not that i dont love it!!!it just has no pickup!!
and i really doubt I could take an s10 maybe a 4 door one i dunno
and also 11.2 is a second faster then a viper!!!
thats some serious modification!!!

Took a couple year old 4-banger Eclipse in the rain the other night (I was using 4x4, he he).

btw what do you mean by a few mods??
and was it a V6 S10?? cause they are much faster then V6 daks. I know someone whos S10 does 0-60 in like 7 seconds with just a flowmaster and K&N intake! A 4x4 auto dak under perfect conditions maybe 10.5 seconds i never got mine under 11.5
actually lets change the topic of this thread to V6 0-60's.
I wanna know what the differance is in 0-60 or 1/4 between 4x4 autos and 2x4 5 speeds
and Bernd why dont you time ur 0-60???I'd be really interested to know. there!! thats lighthearted!!

Can't beat a 4-banger ranger...umm ....you should be able too....
And with the RSX imagine the hp we could have I we could redline at 7900!! Not that I am saying they arnt fast...I rode in one last night...give me a v6 that revs that high and 4.56 gears(which they have) and I will be dang fast too.

didnt say i couldnt i started behind him and it was harder to catch him then I thought it would be, but my truck wasnt really warmed up yet and it happened to be performing preticularly bad that day. i would have had him if we started even if he actually beat me i would trade in the damn thing

yeah 2.5 would suck and 7900 would be cool too bad but "you need torque to pull trailors, magnum engines are all about torque" -from 1998 dakota catalog or whatever u call those things dealers give u
think that is why we cant go up to 7900 rpm
any way back to 0-60s lets hear some and 0-30s while ur at it

I've played with several V-6 S-10's, only one beat me. I just talking stoplight to stoplight here, we might be getting 0-50 mph.
I have a cat-back, home brew intake, Flowmetrics TB, and headers. I meant no nitrous or blower or anything. My truck is a CC 4x4, auto, 3.92 gears, 31 inch tires. But I'm also carrying a lot of extra weight, I weight about 350, probably 200 in my tool box, and at least 200 lbs of stereo equipment.
The thing with S-10s is they make their power at different places than we do. If you really race an S-10, comparably equipped trucks, its gonna be a driver's race most of the time. With my truck, I have to actually let off the gas and let it shift early. This will get me up to speed faster, as the engine really runs out of juice over 4500 rpm.
Are you sure your truck is running right? Just asking, because if I don't change my plugs by 15,000, I start to lose a lot of pick-up. But I mostly drive around town, only on the highway about once a week.

I've beat a few S-10 & one extreme... I have the 3.55, but I have the advantage of only weighing 114 lbs.

I have wondered if my truck was running right it only has 16000 miles on it and i think the dealer replaced the plugs but im not sure but the only mod i have is an airaid intake(i just took out my throttle body spacer) but both of u guys have a lot more mods then me im sure it wouldnt be that slow if i had cat-back, Flowmetrics TB, and headers. BTW i weigh about 236 or so and Lesley you have more mods, 2wd and you only weigh 114!! thats like 400 or 500 lbs
less if u factor in your weight and the lack of 4wd. also xtreme are 4 cyl i think
i think the 2wd weighs like 3600 and the 4wd weighs 4100 or 4336 with me in it
oh and Lesley...Black Daks rule!!!

I'm not into the suv crazy and if I was the RX300 would not be on my list. I think its ugly and overpriced, but I would like a IS300. The Lightning, like the R/T, gives off a race me attitude. The RX300 gives off a rich mommy attitude. Yes, my truck is 4x2 5-speed which covers the 1/4 in 16.5 (soon to be lower with NX).

I have two other friends who are females and into performance. One built a '69 Camaro which does 13s and the other is into the rice scene.

Yep, my 99 3.9's a pig. Immediatly off the line, it has good grunt but then it just dies out. I went out west this summer with it.What a joke. Heading west out of denver on the interstate was very frustrating. 45 mph most of the way up to the continental divide. People were blasting past me like i was standing still. It even downshifted to second a few times!! Whhhheeeeee!!!! Thought it was going to blow. Definitly wish i had gotten the V-8....By the way, i don't even bother racing anything with a late 90's 4.3 in it. I get killed every time. Rangers are pretty ball-less, though. :C)

I have smoked lots of these little Euro cars over here, except one. One time I was doing 100 mph, with a Honda Accord Type R on my ass. I had the pedal to the floor (3.55's) and there were gradual hills but straight shot though. Anyways, he decided I was going to slow and pulled in the other land and flew by. Those damn things are quick! Much more fun over here for a V6. Less competition ; )
