i have a 98 dakota sport...and in the past few days in the morning when i go to start it ..it barely starts but it does start but then at idle it just quits...and then when i go start it...it almost dont start....and to keep it running i have to run it around 1000 RPM's and about 2 or 3 min. at 1000 i can let off the gas and it wont quit .......this happens everytime i try to start it ........can anyone help

Hm... could have a dead or dying cell in the battery. Take the battery in and have them put it on a tester to see if it's ok.

It's a dying battery!
The exact thing happened to me last month. I ran a charger on the battery overnight, which bought me a little time.
Took it to NAPA for testing and they couldn't pinpoint the problem (but they did suspect the battery anyway). A couple of days later it started misbehaving again. I just sprung for NAPA's top-of-the-line battery - no troubles at all now - just in time for ski season!

the hanes book says that it could be not getting enough gas, air filter, or spark plugs...but like the other guys said, it probably is the battery...autozone and advanced do free battery checks, try that first
