I have a 2000 QC 4X4 with a 3.9
I am putting a Intense Performance Stage II intake system on my truck. I was recently reading about the increase in HP and MPG that is possible by replacing the stock TB with a performance TB. Is a performance TB worth the money? Would I have to upgrade other components? Are there other more economical options than a TB to get more HP and MPG's out of my V6?

I have a QC with a v6 also. I have installed a Gibson SS Catback ($470) and Volant intake ($230). I have not seen that much improvement in MPG (fun factor). I do feel a differnce with my dyno butt. I am planning on installing a Flometrics Billet 48mm TB ($385) from Speedtweaks and Autolite 3923s ($1.10). These are not economical except for the spark plugs. I would recommend the spark plugs, brass cap and rotor, a Tonneau cover (check http://mars.acnet.wnec.edu/~ehaffner/did.htm ), change the muffler (flowmaster, gibson, dynomax) and installing a factory V8 TB. Check out Speedtweaks.net better insight and tips. Good luck.

SS Gibson exhaust, MSD Wires, Accel Super Coil, NAPA Cap
soon: Flometrics Billet 48mm TB, Autolites 3923s

You can see some sort of increase in MPG with modified intakes and throttle bodies...but that totally depends on your driving style.
