I have a 97 Dakota SLT, and it had the small stock tires on it, i replaced them with 31x10.50 wide cimber tires. They looked more proportioned to the truck, but this year i put BF GOODRICH A/T 's 32x11.50, and they look better yet, and they are wearing excellent. They rub a little bit when i turn hard, but i can live with that. I would recommend the BF GOODY"S over the GOODYEAR, I know some people who had the GOODYEARS, and they do not wear that well. Hope this helps you.

I have a 98 Dodge Dakota 4x4 with BF Goodrich All Terrain TA K/O 31x10.50x15's and they have 14000 miles on them and are barely showing any wear. They have very little howl on the highway and great grip in the mud. They also give the truck a very agressive look.

I have 37,000 miles on my michelin m/s tires. And hardly any sign of wear.

I installed and sold tires for a long time and your best bet is the BFG A/T's. But If you can find a set of Michelin XC LT4 (sears) go with them. They are both great truck tires, both are avaible with raised white lettering. I liked the Michelins better because I got about 60K miles out of them on my 93 Bronco 4x4 of hard driving they were 31-10.50-15. just my 2cents and expereience.

Okay: I worked in the tire industry for quite a while myself, and here are my personal experiences/opinions:

The Michelin LTX M/S is a GREAT on-road tire with mild off road performance. If you use your 4WD (which I assume the truck is since the OEM was a 31x10.5) off road a lot, the tread on this tire isn't well suited for slopping around. On the road, it's a great-rolling, well-balanced tire. Good dry and wet grip on road surfaces and I've seen 'em last 80,000 miles with regular air checks, rotations, and alignments.

The BFG All-Terrain T/A KO's are a great dual purpose tire. Their street performance isn't quite as smooth as the LTX M/S's, but their ability off-road is far superior. They have raised lugs on the edges to help with traction and I can go places in my 2WD Dak I shouldn't be able to with those grippers on the drive wheels. If you like going off road for fun, this is a better choice. Tire life of these is expected at 40-50k with regular maintenance.

If you're going to be doing a lot of off-road driving, check out the Wrangler MT/R series, or similar styles. Big 'ol chunks of tread on those bad boys. Watch out though, because some of them have a tendency to be outstanding off road but crap traction on pavement, especially when wet.
