Here's what I'm thinking I'm gonna do, I'm acyually going to take it in for this just to make sure its done right.

2.5" pipe
High-Flow Cat (either car sound or dynomax)
Dynomax #17748
Y pipe really close to the back
cool looking tips exiting under the bumper.

I don't have a price yet, but I'll probably go after work tommorrow

Good idea to stay with the 2.5" pipe but in my opinion you should stay with the single exit and a nice tip. See if you can find a way to make it exit befor the rear wheel. Just an idea.

I may have it exit under the bed because I heard it resonates and sounds wicked like that

I'm thinking about basically the same set up except I'm going with the dual outlet Flowmaster deltaflow 40series. I loved it on my Cherokee, so I need it on my Dakota.

The Meineke near me said the catback would be about $330. Thats with those two chrome tips. I'm still pricing as well, and might look into a high flow cat. Good luck fellow price hunter! And keep me updated on the prices. I live down by STL, on the IL side. I could always go up to Chi-town for the parts.

I've got cat back costom bent.2.5" alumizied pipe, 40 series Flomaster, and it dumps at just behind the rear tire. Sounds good to me, but I was more conserned w/ performance, being a mechanic. If you want it more "confortable" go w/the dynomax. Just my 2 cents.

I'm looking for the power. You're the first person I've seen mention performance over sound. I'm going to go to Merlins, they've done most of my friends right, so that's where I'm going. I'm still in debate over the Y though.

Joesdak was that cat and pipes or just pipes for $190. I can do it all myself but installing a cat is something I want done right

58" chrome sidepipes running up the length of the body from behind front tire to front of rear tire. 3" Custom job with two dynomax high flow cats. Muffler-less besides the baffles in the actual sidepipes. Both each coming off each exhaust manifold. H-Pipe directly behind crossmember and relocated o2. - $450

New cat and installment when old one goes - $95

Having an old timer pull up in a 61 vette with chrome sidepipes and getting the "thumbs up" three generations back - PRICELESS

heh, good one.

I was wondering what it'd sound like if I had my two pipes exit from just in front of the rear tires. Any problems with that?

Well it just so happens I have been running a flow 50 series single in /double out right before the rear passenger wheel for about a year now and its the best setup I have ever had. It sounds great but I like the performance also and the speed is what I care about and let me tell ya with this setup you can really get rollin I have beat 2 daks with the exact same stuff as me except their mufflers went strait out the back (one was a gen-2) so I know the setup works. So thats me .02.
